Q. Do I have to register to use the site?
A. No, there is no registration required. This site is free to use.
Q. What sort of problems are put on the site?
A. As of the date last modified below, the problems currently fall into 3 categories.
These are Mysteries, Mathematics and Word. If you have an idea for a category, e-mail
it to me and if it becomes a popular request, I'll ask for submissions on the category
before it's release.
Q. Are there certain submissions you won't allow?
A. Yes, see the rules for details on what you can and can't
submit.
Q. What is the newsletter about?
A. The newsletter is a way of informing users of new problems to solve or of changes
to the site. It will also be used to request submissions on a new category. You can
subscribe (free) to the newsletter from the home page or by
e-mailing:
perplexingproblems-subscribe@topica.com
.
Q. I want to submit a problem to the site. How can I do this?
A. There are details on how to submit problems on the submit
problems page.
Q. What details do you need?
A. All submissions require a title, the problem itself, the answer to the problem, your
e-mail address (in case there are problems with your submission or to request pictures
for problems requiring visual representation) and a name (either your real name, or a
code name, used to display the author of each problem).
Q. Will my details be publicised in any way?
A. No. Your e-mail address will not be sent to any third parties and will not be
accessible from the site. Names will only be used to identify the person who
submitted a problem.
Q. Are there any other details you require from me?
A. No. I won't ask for personal details like your address or telephone number. Should
you get an e-mail that appears to come from this site, and asks for these details do
not reply to it.
Q. Can I ask for a site to be advertised (e.g. home page, relevant page)?
A. If you want to then yes, although I will not advertise adult themed or offensive
sites. This will be a hyperlink in your name when you make a submission that makes it
on to the website. All requests for sites will be checked (and may delay consideration
of your submission's inclusion to the site) and will not be advertised if it violates
this rule.
Q. How can I report broken links, errors or make comments?
A. E-mail the
submission's e-mail address with a descriptive subject line (i.e. Not something vague
like "Question") and a description of your comment. Please do not include attachments
as your e-mail may not be answered.
Q. Can I ask for a poll question to be put on the website?
A. Certainly, although this must be done by e-mail for now. I currently don't have a form
ready for poll requests. Polls run for one week and results are shown the following week.
There may be an archive section added to the website in the future to list previous
poll questions (these will be closed).
